comes to my mind is global warming, the clearest fact that proves the climate
change. According to the website of
United State Environmental Protection Agency, “Climate change is a problem that is affecting
people and the environment. Greater energy efficiency and new technologies hold
promise for reducing greenhouse gases and solving this global challenge”.

Energy
from the sun travels to the earth in the form of electromagnetic radiation, the
process of collecting and converting this energy to usable energy is called
solar energy utilization. The most common converting equipment is the solar panel. Technically, solar energy utilization
is not a new technology. But compared to the consuming of fossil fuel, it is
‘younger’ and definitely more eco-friendly. Because solar energy system can be
stand-alone, there is no requirement for connecting to a power or natural gas
grid. As the resource of this renewable energy, the sun provides a virtually
unlimited supply of solar energy. Meanwhile, utilization of solar energy will
displace conventional energy (especially the fossil fuel), which usually
results in a proportional decrease in greenhouse gas emission (the main cause
of the climate change). Furthermore,
from the economic aspect, the operating costs of solar energy systems can be
really low.

Within

Due to the facts of weather conditions and the
popularization of the science, to fully substitute the conventional energy by
solar energy is seemed not possible.
However, as the modern technology is developing rapidly, there are more
and more solar energy converting and collecting system being used for our daily
life. On the other hand, as the market demand of the new technology is growing
fast, there is huge potential for the solar energy utilizing system to take the
lead of all the new technology for climate change mitigation.
I agree that solar energy is a great technology that will aid in the mitigation of climate change. It is a bit expensive to purchase solar kits or solar panels but the price has decreased substantially over the last few years from what I can remember. Another up-and-coming type of alternative energy is wind power. You can actually buy personal small-scale wind turbines for your home from Home Depot.
